National Public Health Service (NPHS) - Northern Region is responsible for investigating cases of infectious diseases, to protect the health of everyone in Tāmaki Makaurau - Auckland and Te Tai Tokerau - Northland.
We seek to identify where diseases come from, stop their spread within our community, and prevent them from happening again.
Some diseases are notifiable, which means they have to be reported to the Medical Officer of Health. NPHS - Northern Region receives notifications from general practitioners (GPs), laboratories and the public.
