Though infectious, the case was not symptomatic at the time and only one close contact has been identified across the various locations. That person is now in self-isolation.

ARPHS has not advised any of the locations that a deep clean is necessary.

Anyone else in the same place at the same time as the confirmed case is considered to be a casual contact at low risk of catching the virus.

However it remains important to watch for symptoms of COVID-19. These can include one or more of the following:

  • New or worsening cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Temporary loss of smell
  • Fever
  • Difficulty breathing.

Anyone experiencing any of these symptoms should stay home, call their local doctor or Healthline (0800 358 5453) for advice and get tested as soon as possible.

It’s important to also continue:

  • Practising good cough, sneeze and hand hygiene.
  • Maintaining a safe physical distance and using a face covering when out and about in places where you can’t, and on public transport.
  • Using the NZ COVID Tracer app when out and about, or keep a manual record of your movements.
