Influenza – or the flu – is a virus that spreads quickly from person to person. Some people get very sick – influenza causes a number of deaths every year.
Prevention and protection is the best defence against the flu. Getting a flu vaccine will help reduce the risk of you or your patients getting really sick or having to go to the hospital.
Everyone aged 6 months and over is able to get the flu vaccine through their local GP or pharmacy.
For some people the flu vaccine is free. Check if you or your patients are eligible for a free vaccine.
