Immunisation guidance and advice for health professionals in Aotearoa.
The Immunisation Schedule is the series of vaccines that are offered for free to babies, children, adolescents and adults.
The Immunisation Handbook 2024 provides clinical guidelines for health professionals on the safest and most effective use of vaccines in their practice. These guidelines are based on the best scientific evidence available at the time of publication, from published and unpublished literature.
Babies and children under the age of five are eligible for BCG immunisation if they meet the criteria.
More information is available on the Te Whatu Ora - Health NZ website. Additional information for health professionals is available from Health Ed.
Parents and carers can also check if their child is eligible for a BCG vaccine and apply for an appointment directly through our BCG application form.
The Ministry of Health recently revised and updated the national cold chain management documents. Each provider/clinic or hospital department storing and/or administering vaccines is to be familiar and compliant with the following documents.
We support immunisation as a safe and effective way to help prevent serious illness in babies and children.
