Public Health Medicine Specialist
I am a Public Health Physician and a GP. At National Public Health Service - Northern Region I am the clinical lead for Hepatitis and also for our Public Health Intelligence Unit.
I have 20 years’ experience in the New Zealand health sector. This has included seven years working in Paediatrics and 11 years as a Public Health Physician at the Northern Cancer Network within the Northern Regional Alliance. In the latter role I provided leadership, strategic direction and evidence-based expertise to improve outcomes and experiences for cancer patients.
In 2007, I conducted the first DHB level health needs assessment for Asian people. This led to recognition of the high burden of cardiovascular disease and diabetes amongst this population, and helped drive national policy change in these areas.
I’m passionate about combining public health expertise with general practice experience to improve health outcomes for diverse ethnic groups.
