Surveillance and monitoring of data on infectious diseases

National Public Health Service (NPHS) - Northern Region collects and analyses data on the incidence and spread of notifiable diseases for the Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Tai Tokerau regions.

This information is used for:

  • assessing the impact of disease on different communities
  • managing outbreaks and monitoring interventions
  • predicting emerging hazards
  • informing policy and service decisions by health and local government organisations
