Health Improvement Manger

Kia ora, I lead a team of around 40 staff that aim to reduce health inequities and improve health outcomes in communities across Tāmaki Makaurau. Our team’s focus areas include health promotion, alcohol and Smokefree compliance, and we also manage the Auckland regional cervical screening register.

I have a public health background with broad experience over 25 years managing projects and teams in the health, community and research sectors in the Sydney region. I joined ARPHS in July 2022 following the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. I am supporting the team’s re-focus to non-communicable disease prevention, and our core business of making it easier for Aucklanders to eat well, keep physically active and avoid alcohol and tobacco harms.

I am also a member of the ARPHS Senior Māori Leadership Group - Te Taumata - which supports the organisation to embed the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi into all aspects of our workplace practice. It is a real privilege for me to work in partnership with all of my Māori and non-Māori colleagues to ensure organisational cultural safety and improve Māori health outcomes.
